J'étais vendredi à Londres au
Bett Show. Le Bett est le plus grand salon européen consacré aux technologies de formation.
La taille du show et les myriades d'annonces cachaient difficilement un vide sidéral en termes de nouveautés réelles.
Pour moi, la principale nouveauté, c'est quelque chose dont vous n'entendrez parler nulle part ailleurs - pour l'instant - que dans ce blog: il s'agit du
nouveau projecteur interactif mis au point par NEC et Luidia, avec la technologie eBeam.
Le projecteur transforme automatiquement la surface de projection en un tableau blanc interactif. Oui, vous m'avez bien lu ! Pas besoin d'accrocher quoi que ce soit au mur, le récepteur eBeam se situe DANS le vidéo-projecteur.
Autrement dit, vous avez un vidéo-projecteur ET un tableau blanc interactif intégrés, sans aucun branchement ni aucune manipulation à effectuer. La surface de projection devient AUTOMATIQUEMENT interactive.
Pour le reste, ça fonctionne exactement comme le tableau blanc interactif eBeam
que nous proposons déjà.
J'ai testé, c'est un outil de conférence extraordinaire (évidemment, il y a aussi plein d'avantages dans l'éducation, mais le prix reste un peu élevé - autour de 3 000 € - pour l'enseignement).

eBeam est à ma connaissance la seule société à pouvoir même envisager ce genre de systèmes. Les autres tableaux blancs interactifs sont basés sur une sensibilisation "physique" de la surface du tableau blanc, ce qui empêche tout couplage de ce genre.
Autres applications dérivées d'eBeam à venir, je pense, des écrans de télé géants interactifs... Ca pourrait révolutionner la télévision et redonner un peu de sens au mot "convergence" (auquel je crois peu,
par ailleurs).

Bett Show last friday. The Bett is the largest european event about technology in education.
Hundreds - if not thousands - marketing annoucements could not hide the fact that nothing was really new.
You will not see anywhere else what I consider to be the biggest thing that has been presented there.
Luidia and NEC have annouced the first interactive videoprojector. This projector instantaneously transforms the projection image into an interactive whiteboard (using eBeam technology). No cable, installation, setup needed (except of course switching the projector on, sorry for the effort !).
I have tested it extensively, it is a wonderful tool: very precise, very reliable. The software that comes with it is eBeam's projection software (the one we already sell with the eBeam Interactive whiteboard).
eBeam is the only interactive whiteboard manufacturer that I know that can even think about such systems, because their technology is based on optical triangulation. Other manufacturers stuff the whiteboard with electronics to make it interactive and as a consequence, you have "heavy", non mobile systems and of course, you can't couple them as nicely to a videoprojector.
I think giant interactive TV plasma screens may soon be coming. 5 years ago, everybody was talking of "convergence" between PC and TV and that's another thing that never happened.
If you can control your TV from the screen with eBeam, well, this is not the educational market anymore ...
